Murder, Treason and Liberal "Misunderstandings"

Why do Liberals and Politicians (and especially liberal politicians) persist in trying to hamper, inhibit and defeat our own side in the War on Terror? Is it because they do not understand that this is not a "conventional" war? Do they insist that the "Rules of War" and the Geneva Conventions are applied unilaterally through some moral conviction or because they are stupid or is there something worse at work?

The Geneva Convetions were drawn up for conflicts between nations, and have definite "Rules of War". These include the wearing of uniforms and the carrying of identity cards as well as making the deliberate targeting of civilians a crime. Terrorists follow none of these rules, hence our military have given fighting them the term "Unconventional Warfare".

Under the Geneva Conventions, the only category that fits terrorists is that of spies and saboteurs who are specifically exempted from all protections. We maintain moral supremacy by following the spirit of the Geneva Conventions for Treatment of Prisoners of War, not the bureaucratic letter. So how have our politicians ended up insisting that such irrelevancies drive our treatment of prisoners, and to such an extent that we seem afraid of "offending" the prisoners, for example by conducting normal routines during their prayer times (you don't see Cairo or Tehran coming to a halt at prayer time)? And how have these same politicians ended up calling for a premature retreat from Iraq?

Politicians can be fools, but most are reasonably well educated and intelligent. They certainly know that quitters don't win. This leads one to assume that they are acting deliberately in their attempts to withdraw from Iraq. The Constitution defines treason as follows "Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort." Since our military have not been defeated, and their prisoners are not subject to the Geneva Conventions, these calls for withdrawal and "kind" treatment of prisoners who may have knowledge critical to our safety are giving aid and comfort to the enemy. It is time for our State and National Legislatures to act against Traitors to ensure they bear the consequences of their actions. Those who actively oppose the war on terror by limiting the actions of our troops in our defence and further give aid and comfort to the enemy by insisting that our troops cannot win are meeting the criteria for Treason and should be impeached.
