1st Lt. Elliott Ackerman of 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, recently accepted the Silver Star, the nation’s third-highest military award for valor. If our young people are looking for a role model, it is Lt. Ackerman, for he and all of his fellow honorees provide the foundation of America’s enduring and timeless military legends.
